Professional Recognition

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in Saskatchewan has it's own particular challenges due to our geographical land base of 650,000 square kms and a population base of just under one million residents served.  EMS serves Saskatchewan communities with 110 ambulance services, 250+ ambulance units, 1,000 registered First Responders, 1420+ registered Paramedics, EMR's, EMT's, and EMT-A's.  These practitioners respond to an average of 92,000+ calls a year.

Nominations are closed for all Paramedic Services Chiefs of Saskatchewan awards.  Please watch this page for information on the awards ceremonies in the coming months.

The Governor General of Canada EMS Exemplary Service Medal recipients each receive a medal and certificate for recognition of 20 years of exemplary service.  The Governor General's EMS Exemplary Service Medal is Canada's highest EMS honour.

The Second Award of the Governor General of Canada EMS Exemplary Service Medal-First Bar recipient receives a bar to compliment their medal and a certificate recognizing an 30 years of exemplary service.

The Third Award of the Governor General of Canada EMS Exemplary Service Medal - Second Bar recipients receive an additional bar to compliment their medal and a certificate recognizing 40 years of exemplary service.

Paramedic Services Chiefs of Saskatchewan recipients will receive a medal for the first time this year.  The medal, as pictured below, is to be worn on the right chest side of the recipients uniform. The medal was designed by SGS Marketing and displays Paramedic Services Chiefs of Saskatchewan's new logo.

Saskatchewan Protective Services 2018

Lieutenant Governor W. Thomas Molloy joined Provincial Secretary Nadine Wilson to honour the latest recipients of the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal this past October, in both Saskatoon and Regina. The medal honours personnel with 25 years of service in Saskatchewan in the emergency services field, including police services, fire services, emergency medical services, federal and provincial corrections and the Canadian forces.  In 2018 the medal was presented to 113 individuals from rural and urban communities across Saskatchewan.
